My Latest Commission
Scott Abel has commissioned me to do yet another piece for his future “husband”. I find it challenging because of the detail of the background. I was once a realist painter, but lost interest in copying what a photo could take.

Update:
The commission is now complete. While painting this piece, I found that I kept being drawn to painting the background abstractly. The painting was busy to begin with, but by painting it as an abstract, everything came together in a nice flow.

I had some formal training back in the early 1990’s but most of how I work now is from experimenting. I enjoy painting the human face and figure the most. You shouldn’t focus on thinking you would “screw up”, that would take away from the real joy of painting. I recommend you pick up book called, “Point Zero”. It will help you on your journey with art.
Your work is beautiful, Do you take classes? I am in art class and have done Charcoal, pastels and oils. I love them all but afraid to work on my own how did you get out of that fear. I have soooo many ideas but can’t seem to get started and screw up.
